Warren Wright has been making my trees for me since 1992. Most of the work I do is for working class folks who take a lot of pride in their equipment. A small percentage of my customer base are collectors of museum grade saddles. This work is often a collaboration with a silversmith. I make a number of pieces in this category that appear in the Traditional Cowboy Arts Association exhibit each year at the National Cowboy Museum (Oklahoma City).
The design and amount of ornamentation that can go into creating a custom saddle is only limited by the imagination and the checkbook, but here are some of the basics:
- The leather used on every one of my signature saddles is “A” grade Hermann Oak
- The base price includes a 100% mohair cinch, Keith Wilson stirrups, flat plate rigging, 3″ wide doubled and stitched back cinch, slick fork, stainless steel hardware throughout, plain smooth or roughout.
- Currently about 50% of my customers are repeat customers.
- Call or e-mail me about current prices and wait times for saddles and accessories.
Pricing and Deposit Policy
The only requirements needed in order to retain a place on the list are your name, contact information, and a genuine interest in owning a new Schwarz saddle. When we are a few months away from starting your saddle, you will be contacted. If you would like to proceed with the saddle order, we would then find out what you desire in a saddle tree. A deposit would then be collected and a tree ordered. With receipt of deposit, the customer locks into the current base price. Deposits are nonrefundable.
